Faced an unexpected problem with a faulty PCB path, causing damage to the mosfet and possibly the EGS002 module as well.
I immediately replaced the MOSFET fix the trace and also checked the EGS002 module on the tester as in my previous post, to make sure it was okay.
Troubleshoot & repair egs002
When turned on the LED indication was not what it should have been.
The expected LED display when the IFB voltage = 0V, VFB = 3V, and TFB = 0V are all green LEDs on and the red LEDs on EGS002 are on. But there are only two green LEDs that turn on, namely the LED for 1LO and 2HO. At this point, I am quite sure that the EGS002 module is also having problems.
The LED display provides very little information to determine faults, so it is necessary to continue with other tests. Further testing by making the LED Warning Indication condition occur intentionally. The expected conditions are that all green LEDs are off and red LED EGS002 is blinking.
Then I set the IFB voltage to be more than 0.5V. The EGS002 red LED flashes and the green LED status changes. The green LED representing 2H0 turns off as it should, while the green LED 1LO dims. The rest of the green LED remains off.
Seeing this condition, the flashing red LED indicates that the EG8010 and IC LM393 are still functioning and reacting to the IFB input. Whereas the 2HO green LED is off but the 1LO green LED turns dim making me almost sure that the problem is with the IR2110. If this 1LO LED also turns off I have to check the EG8010 output again.
Result
After the replacement was complete, I did another test on the EGS002 module to confirm the repair results. When the power is turned on all the green LEDs are off and the red LED EGS002 is blinking as it should be, as the IFB voltage is more than 0.5V. Then I lowered the IFB voltage to below 0.5V, and all the green LEDs were on and the EGS002 LEDs were on continuously, as it should be.
Thus, the repair is complete.
